Brith Services have been appointed to undertake the major refurbishment of Brighton Dome Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre alongside essential conservation work.
The transformation of the Corn Exchange, formerly the Prince Regent’s Riding house, will reveal and restore stunning and previously hidden heritage features as well as providing extra increased capacity seating and an impressive new viewing gallery.
Major improvements to the Studio Theatre, once a stables and supper room, will include balcony seating, new bar facilities a new artists' creation space, new ticket office and a café opening out onto street level. Which in turn creates our work of new toilet blocks, dressing rooms complete with ensuite, offices, new plant room and connecting into the existing chilled and heating plant room.
While the works are being installed we have had to hibernate the existing chillers and install temporary chillers to take their place for the time being.
Works included in our package are:
• Chilled water services
• Heating services
• Heat rejection pipework
• Ventilation services
• Air conditioning services
• Domestic services
• Above ground drainage
• Complete building management system which will be integrated into the existing system.
The site being in the heart of Brighton centre and having a pedestrian road to manoeuvre vehicles makes this site very difficult to position the big plant on the roof (dry air coolers, Air handling units) hence why we had to arrange a helicopter lift to position the equipment which was very well executed by Helirig.
